Whether you are looking for travel perks or mileage, it is hard to beat the United Explorer Card. Fundamentals are why this Chase card is best travel card for 2022. Please note, if you use our referral code, while we do not receive direct compensation, we do receive mileage from United MileagePlus.
A Great Introductory Offer!
For me, the decision was a no brainer. I was already United MileagePlus member. Aside from on-going perks, one of the main reasons to get a travel card is the introductory offer. The Chase United Explorer card comes with a great introductory offer in 2022:
- A low introductory APR of 14.99%
- MILES! MILES! MILES! – You receive United Airlines 60,000 miles if you spend $3000 in the first 3 months.
- 2 United Club passes for travel.
- One free checked bag per traveler per flight.
- $95 dollar annual fee waived for the first year.
Best Travel Card for 2022 Depends on YOUR PREFERRED Airline.
Part of what makes choosing a travel card difficult is making sure it provides a boost to your mileage program. I chose United MileagePlus due to the non-stop flights from Chicago to Hawaii, my preferred destination. Most mileage cards provide similar spending criteria. One thing I will say that stands out about this program is the customer service from Chase. Chase is a world class bank, and they have great customer service. I don’t just say that because I used to work there! (Disclaimer: I did work for Chase, but it was in 2002 and things have changed quite a bit)
A Good, but not Great Credit Score Needed.
One of the challenges of obtaining a good travel card is credit score. If you are reading this website, you likely have struggles in this department. The good news? You do not need excellent credit for this card! There are many examples of approvals between 690-720 credit scores. Which score Chase pulls depends on the state you live. In general, Chase will only make one hard pull to your credit report. As of October 2021, the known hard pulls are:
Different Options Based on Credit and Finances.
Chase offers FOUR versions of their travel cards, and while the United Explorer is the best overall option, make sure you check out the others based on your credit scoring and credit needs!
